I like your play list! I had a friend in junior high that used to request this song for me because it was the only song by TMBG that he knew, and he knew I liked the band. :) I like your other songs by them as well. I tried not to put more than one or two songs by the same people on my playlist, or I'd have a lot more of those guys on it!
Mary, Pooh (AKA Timpani) and I went to a Pointfest (St. Louis festival concert thing) and TMBG were there. Interestingly enough, the Ramones were the last band of the evening and TMBG credited them for TMBG's use of the sun song. Another favorite of mine is Whistling in the Dark. There are many more however. I think that we have seen them twice live.
Glad you like the new list. Sorry my wife is thinks I stink. :(
I like "Whistling in the Dark" too, but I think and think and think when I hear the song trying to figure out what exactly is meant by "I'd like to poison your mind with wrong ideas that appeal to you, tho I am not unkind." I'm trying to figure out if that is a world-view reference, or religious, or if it means really nothing at all. I like singing it, because I get to move my lips really fast. Just like "Letterbox." I wish I had been to that Pointfest. It would have been great. My parents hated me listening to that station when I was a teenager, so if it was that long ago, I wouldn't have been able to go. They tried to ban me from listening to it. It didn't work very well, but I have outgrown a lot of the hard stuff I used to like. Maybe it's because I became a mom...I dunno.
I know that's over-thinking, but I can't help it. And they got their name from the movie by that name hat came out in 1971. Maybe the movie title is a reference to Don Quixote. I just learned that the band Life House got their name from 17th (maybe 18th) century poetry. I can't remember the name of the poet, but when I took my literature class they talked about how the poets of the time worked hard on their alliteration and someone referred to their body as a "life house". I thought that was a pretty cool idea.
Actually, Dana, it's not Weird Al. It's this guy: http://leeprince.com/id24.html I knew that it was not Weird Al, just did not really know who and was not desperate to find out. ;)
Oh good to know! I've been absently wondering for a few years. Ya know whenever I'd get a forward that used the song. lol.
I really like chinese food and many of my friends feel the need to let me know that I may be eating dogs or cats.
While I hate to disappoint them I really don't care. Even if it is dog or cat it's still good. lol. Moreover I think that I've actually eaten cat once and while it was stringy and not really excellent like alligator I'd eat it again. :) I'm fearless like that. ha ha ha ha ha!!!

You stink Puckett! You have two adorable children, and a strange wonderful wife, and nothing to blog about?
Oops, by "this song" I meant the Sun song.
